The Speaker Series aims to attract high-caliber, experienced, and knowledgeable individuals with a substantial background in the field of politics and public service to the campus of UNC Chapel Hill to engage in substantive conversations with students, faculty, and other members of the University community. From large-scale lectures to small workshops, or intimate dinners to crowded receptions, the Speaker Series tailors each of its events to best fit the character of the conversation.

Past events have included a panel with three of the five living former Governors of North Carolina, a lecture and reception with former US Senator and US Ambassador to the United Nations John Danforth, and a candid conversation between former Secretaries of Education Margaret Spellings and John King. Other speakers include former Governor of Tennessee Bill Haslam, New York Times columnist Frank Bruni, and former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff.
